Key benefits
-
Fluoride and arsenic reduction filters - These authentic Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements are designed for use in conjunction with authentic Black Berkey BB9-2 and Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Filter Elements to adsorb fluoride, arsenic(V) and pre-oxidized arsenic(III), and other residual typical heavy metal ions.
-
Filters to reduce a broad array of contaminants - Included Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Filter Elements have been tested by independent third-party labs to remove or reduce 200+ typical waterborne contaminants found in U.S. and global municipal water supplies.
-
NSF certification - The included Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Filter Elements are certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 to reduce non-health-related contaminants (aesthetic impurities and particulates that affect taste and odor), and certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 372 which is consistent with the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its lead-free plumbing requirements.
-
The only officially endorsed replacement filter - Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Filter Elements are the only filter officially endorsed by New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. for use in Berkey water systems in lieu of Black Berkey Elements (BB9-2), and can be used with all Berkey systems and most other brands of gravity-fed filter systems.
-
Economical, long-lasting filters - Replace Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Filter Elements every 2,750 gallons (5,500 gallons per set of 2 filters). Filters may require replacement sooner based upon the quality of influent water. Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements should be replaced after 1,000 gallons of use, under normal conditions.

Lab results
Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Filter Elements have been tested by NABL, ISO 9000 and ISO 17025 accredited third-party labs using EPA guidelines and ANSI/NSF protocols to remove or reduce 200+ typical non-biological waterborne contaminants found in municipal (treated) water supplies. They are certified to NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372.
How to set up
- Prime the elements. Stretch the included PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer over your faucet, attach each element and run cold water through it to flush out carbon dust and push air out of the pores.
- Install. Fit each element through the upper chamber with its washer and wing nut, hand tight. Plug any unused holes with the blocking plugs.
- Run the red dye test. Add up to 1/8 tsp (10 drops) of red food coloring per gallon of system capacity to the upper chamber. If the filtered water comes out clear, everything is sealed and working. Use red coloring only - natural or organic dyes can give a false fail. Remove any PF-2 elements before testing.
- Fill the upper chamber and enjoy. Gravity does the rest - no power or plumbing needed.
Questions about this product
How do PF-2 elements install?
PF-2 elements screw onto the bottom of the Phoenix (or Black Berkey) element stems and sit in the lower chamber. A Phoenix or Black Berkey element is required - PF-2s can't be used alone.
How often do I replace each filter?
Phoenix elements: every 2,750 gallons each (5,500 per pair). PF-2 elements: after 1,000 gallons of use under normal conditions.
How do I set up the PF-2 elements?
Follow the set-up instructions included in the PF-2 package. Prime and red-dye test your Phoenix elements first - remove the PF-2s before running the red dye test, then attach them.
Will this fit my Big or Royal Berkey?
Yes. Big and Royal Berkey systems hold up to 4 Phoenix elements in the upper chamber and up to 4 PF-2 elements in the lower chamber.
